Galerie Lelong & Co. is a fast-paced international contemporary gallery located in Chelsea seeking an energetic candidate for an Associate Registrar position. This full-time role requires the candidate to be present at the gallery Tuesday-Saturday, 10am to 6pm plus openings and events as needed.

We are looking for a candidate who can handle a high volume of detailed, specialized tasks. The ideal candidate will have had at least three years previous experience in an arts organization with registration, collections management, and/or art shipping. A familiarity with the logistics of art fairs is necessary. Proficiency with Art Logic as well as art handling skills preferred.

 

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Full time, reports to Head Registrar
• Works closely with Head Registrar, Preparators, Directors, gallery support staff, artists and clients
• Organizes shipping to and from the gallery’s fine art storage
• Organizes installations for client viewings at the gallery or where needed
• Handles all art fairs; transport, schedule, wall-labels, rigging, hiring install crew, and post-fair sales transport
• Arranges for works to be framed, mounted, and/or printed
• Assists registering all works to Artlogic; oversees accuracy and continuity of the database
• Assists with condition reporting and documenting packing of works prior to shipping
• Assists with preparing consignment agreements and shipping invoices
• As directed by Head Registrar shares duties for shipping sold works, gallery exhibitions, and loans and consignments incoming or outgoing
• Works closely with artists and their studios on shipments, exhibitions, production, and consignments.
• Other tasks at discretion of Head Registrar or Director as necessary to support the organization’s mission

 

The pay scale for this position is $65,000-$75,000 annually.
