Galerie Lelong & Co., is pleased to share our new catalogue Samuel Levi Jones. Charting the trajectory of Jones's practice through the last decade with a focus on the past five years, images of selected significant works demonstrate the developments and shifts in the artist's practice where he has physically undone objects associated with systems of power and control to question their assumed command of the truth.
In the catalogue’s essay, Nijah Cunningham astutely identifies the role of the viewer in a new thesis; a collective endeavor found in the black radical aesthetic tradition of Jones’s oeuvre that calls for “co-conspiring” between the viewer and artist.
We are also delighted to share installation images from his recent solo exhibitions. These include the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields (2019), Galerie Lelong & Co., New York (2019), and Paris (2020), with new artworks from his latest show at Galerie Lelong Paris, titled Rise Up (May 20-July 13, 2021).
