Press Release

Galerie Lelong & Co., New York, is pleased to participate in South South’s inaugural online viewing room from February 24 to March 7, 2021. South South is an innovative new platform that is an online community and anthology for galleries, artists, curators and collectors invested in the Global South. Since the mid-1990s Galerie Lelong has been a leader in representing and promoting artists of the Global South, interpreted as Latin America, Africa and Asia. More than half of the gallery’s artists are from the Global South or the diaspora.

Our OVR presentation includes works by Leonardo Drew, Ficre Ghebreyesus, Alfredo Jaar, Samuel Levi Jones, Rosemary Laing, Nalini Malani, Yoko Ono, Mildred Thompson, Lin Tianmiao, and Barthélémy Toguo.

Across a range of media, many of the artists respond to the political and social conditions found in their native countries, the places they settled in or global issues related to the natural environment and its challenges.
